Progress on the gymnasium refurbishment

The roof has been cleaned of moss and treated to prevent new growth. Loose cement rendering has been chipped away and the whole building completely re-rendered and new doors and windows have been installed. The windows were manufactured at fitted by the same firm, Crittals who made the originals all those years ago in 1943.

The gym has now been brought back to its original state, so that we now have a very good building for the all the events which see large numbers of visitors, lectures, reunions and other functions.

We shall also have a greater display area and we have installed an infra-red heating and sound loop system which together with an electrically operated screen make the gym into an excellent auditorium. A new kitchen has been created and along with extra storage room. In all it is an excellent facility for members and community use.
